Now both films Children of Men and V for Vendetta are dystopian based. Both set in the near future with a corrupted Government who run everything. Although both films have a different drive mind, Children of Men focuses on the infertility of women and how it affects the society. In V for Vendetta it shows how a corrupt Government run by a dictator can abuse the power over there people, and then have the people stand for what is right.
Obviously the first similarity we can get from the two films is that they are both dystopian futures set in London, and that are both under control from there Government who want to make England a better, purer country. Both films have the same intentions for all the homosexuals, jews and any religions, they all want them gone but they do it in there own way. By making this in the near future it could be trying to send warning symbols to the viewers. That if this happens, if the country goes into the dictatorship state then we will be overrun by the power of the Government and forced to follow more rules. But still in Children of Men it was a natural case, the film never explained how it got into that state. And in V for Vendetta it was a biological war starting with the Government and turning people with them.
Another similarity of the two is the theme of revolution. To get the messages across both films have to have a violent uprising to achieve there freedom. In V for Vendetta it was the peoples uprising from there homes to go and stand beside V who was there to be the leader of the revolution for the people. Although his actions may have been seen as heroic and peaceful protest at the start, when V decided to blow up the House of Parliament it was then seen as violent protest. But all this was still for one thing and one thing only, freedom, which there achieved once the buildings were gone, and the country could start rebuilding again. Like in Children of Men the film also had a violent uprising to get the points across but there was no question being answered as to how this war started. None the less the revolution was still to over come the fear of Government.
A difference between the two films would be that they have different drive point, they have a different way of reaching the goal. For Children of Men there main focus was infertility, that is what all the character are sparring towards. As the problem is unexplained it is very hard to determine any other possible themes between both films. The drive point for V for Vendetta is when the protagonist (V) is searching for revenge, but his revenge is seen as heroic and that is when the people stand with him to start a new beginning.
Overall the two films Children of Men and V for Vendetta have many similarities in there style and there layout of themes. There only main difference though is there final drive point.
